My holistic journey started with my first corgi who was also my heart dog. When she was 8 years old she went into liver failure after receiving her flea, tick and heartworm medication. A few days later she was diagnosed with lymphoma and my life was shattered. I had shared more memories with that dog than any person.
After her diagnosis I went down the rabbit hole. I wanted to know why my precious dog had gotten cancer. I found out that the kibble we feed our dogs is not a species appropriate diet. Also that flea, tick and heartworm medications can be detrimental to a dogs health especially to a dog with an underlying condition with a compromised immune system. Which is why mine went into liver failure because of her poor compromised immune. On the outside she looked fine but on the inside her cancer was trying to take her body over. I decided I would help her fight it to try to stop the cancer in its tracks or at least slow its progression. I switched her to raw food and took her off all flea, tick and heartworm medication. We did do chemotherapy along with diet change and we were able to spend 10 more months with her. After she passed her vets told me they were shocked she lived as long as she did and I’m a firm believer that her diet change gave us many extra months. So from then on I changed everything, no more kibble or harmful medications! She helped shape the program I have today and I still miss her to this day.

At Everlove, we believe that dogs thrive on a raw diet. They stay leaner, stronger, and healthier along with a beautiful shiny coat. I didn’t always feed raw food but one of my corgis passed away from cancer way too young and I went down the rabbit hole while researching. I found out that dogs (like people) are given food that they aren’t meant to thrive on and are exposed to too many toxins, including flea, tick and heart worm prevention.

I recommend feeding a 100% raw diet, a good company to choose from is Texas Tripe. They have prepackaged ready to feed blends that make raw feeding a breeze and they offer drop off locations all over Texas. I recommend feeding the beginners blend for at least year then you can rotate different proteins to see what your dog loves. Raw feeding is also affordable compared to other high quality dog food. The puppy mix is called beginners blend and will be about $75 a month. After they are off the puppy mix there are cheaper blends to choose from that they offer. Puppies will eat approximately 1/2-3/4 a pound every day and will continue that feed ration through adulthood. They are fed 10% of their body weight as puppies then 2-3% of their body weight as adults. I also recommend adding Green Lippid Mussel for an all natural glucosamine.

Did you know your first defense against fleas, ticks and heart worms is feeding raw food? That’s right raw fed dogs are less likely to be infested with these nasty pests. But there are also many all natural products on the market that prevent flea, tick and heart worms. Springtime Inc offers garlic granules that offer 24 hour prevention and can be added to their food. Amber Naturals offers a product for Heartworm prevention that I’ve been using for years! There are also other all natural products to consider. You can reach out to me to help you find one that works for you.

Vaccines! This is a touchy subject! I truly believe that if you raise your puppy how nature intended then they do not need to be vaccinated. Our dogs in America are extremely over vaccinated and suffer from chronic illnesses due to this. As a holistic breeder I will only vaccinate puppies whose owners wish them to be vaccinated but after that I highly suggest titer testing when your puppy comes home. I have access to multiple resources for affordable titer testing, please reach out if you need these resources. I will also offer homeopathic Nosodes to strengthen their immune system. After that it’s up to you if you decide to continue them, the state of Texas only requires a rabies vaccine.

So many safe treat options! I recommend Himalayan cheese bones and freeze dried liver treats. Both available almost anywhere. Chicken feet and necks are also a great option! Chicken necks act as a natural tooth brush and so do many other meaty bones.
